The EU has decided to withhold £12.6 million from Poland for its audacity to refuse their dictate to shut down one of their coal mines.
I thought that the European Union was a collection of countries who would act together as one in a democracy and the only thing that is missing is borders, well that was the comment put forward. We who voted Brexit knew that this was nothing more than a German Franco dictatorship and what they said went and that is why the majority wanted out. There would be no dictatorship from a Chancellor of Germany for me thank you, my father and his generation had paid too high a price for us to be dictated too.
Especially as we had ONLY agreed to join a common market and not a dictatorial German Franco arrangement. and certainly not this monstrosity that is now the EU. It seems nothing had moved from the 1940s with the idea of who would run Europe .and shame on John Major, Tony Blair, David Cameron and Theresa May for trying to sign away our rights to this arrangement. No wonder they kept it secret….until Brexit. My parents did not sign up to give away our rights that John Major signed away with the stroke of a pen and started this journey to our leaving.
People were aghast at the laws and dictates from the unelected unaccountable foreign politicians and that would not do. British law from a British parliament will always win the day, and Poland is now saying no more than often than not and good for them. They want Polish law for Polish people and I will back them everyday of the week for that.
Why should they shut a coal mine especially at times like this when Russia can switch off the gas and throw its citizens out of a job just because some bloated bureaucrat living off taxpayers money (in a very nice expensive life) demands them too.
This is not nations working together and Poland and Hungary both know it too. The EU will cut £12.6million from Poland’s funding as a punishment for ignoring Brussels’ orders to close one of its coal mines.
The European Commission today informed Poland of the unprecedented step, which will happen next week, to recoup the fine Warsaw has racked up for refusing to close the mine, spokesperson Balazs Ujvari said. bbbbThe Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU hit Poland with the 500,000-euro (£420,845) a day fine last September for refusing to comply an order to shutter its Turow mine producing lignite, or brown coal, following a closure ruling by the court last May.
The Court of Justice (that’s a rather funny thing to call it … should be renamed the puppet department) ruled against Poland. Hands up if you are surprised that the EU Courts are doing the bidding of the dictatorial EU….. no me neither.
Not only have they fined Poland for this but also a million euros a day for daring to have their own laws. It is time for Poland to leave and join the rest of the world and get rid of this millstone from around their neck.
The EU is not a country, it does not produce anything and it costs a fortune and It is run by politicians who have basically been thrown out of the roles in their own countries, and as a reward been gifted another taxpayers gravy train job for them to continue to roll in the dosh that they take. Well, there is nothing more sacrosanct as the ability to make your own laws.
Since the 2009 elections, all MEPs receive a monthly pre-tax salary set at 38.5 per cent of that of a judge at the European Court of Justice. As of July 1, 2019, the monthly salary is of €8,932.86, or just over €107,000 per year. MEPs also receive a general expenditure allowance of €4,563 per month. That allowance of €4,563 does not need receipts and is not handed back and that makes it €54, 756 on top of their €107,000 totalling €161, 756 a year… Nice job when you can get it…..oh and it remains a secret as to what they spend it on…By the way the majority of these politicians in the EU remain part of their own parliament and coin it in twice or have a fat pension from their previous role. Nice for some eh! All taxpayers money all the way for them.
An EU court has rejected calls for greater transparency about MEPs’ expenses, as it upheld a decision that politicians are not required to reveal how they spend public money intended for their offices. In a blow to transparency campaigners, the Luxembourg-based general court upheld the decision of the European parliament that MEPs do not have to provide invoices and receipts for their constituency office costs, or provide the public with details of travel expenses. It concluded that an obligation to publish spending records would undermine MEPs’ privacy, concluding that campaigners had failed to prove publishing information was “appropriate and proportional”. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/25/mep-expenses-eu-court-ruling
Lets face it what does a German politician know about Poland and the needs of their people and what suits them, or what does a French politician know about Hungarians and their needs? We are fiercely proud of our own identities and the EU wants to strip that away and that will never work. People want to have their laws set by their own parliaments and to take that away from the people will eventually lead to dis-satisfaction and we are seeing that in Poland and Hungary.
If you have to punish a country for daring to not follow your laws then it ceases to be a democratic entity and becomes a dictatorship, and that is the reason why the EU will collapse the same way Germany collapsed in the 40s. People will always want freedom.
You cannot stop people from wanting their own identities and Poland needs to start its own Brexit and tell the EU thanks but no thanks, and they will then appreciate it as lets face it….they couldn’t even sort out a vaccine to get to the people (they did manage it for all the elite and their families in the EU having a special clinic that only they could use), but the rest of the people in all the countries just had no say and no one to demand answers from. As with their EU employee only shopping mall…it must be great to be a member of the elite with chauffeur driven cars and private jets at your whim and every luxury you can think off……but not for the taxpayers.
It seems the monster that is the EU has many heads and that is never a good thing….for democracy and the rights of a people and its country.
