Three brothers, Private Theo Leslie Seabrook (left), Second Lieutenant William Keith Seabrook (centre) and Private George Ross Seabrook (right) of Five Dock, New South Wales, Australia enlisted in August 1916 and left Sydney together as reinforcements for the 17th Infantry Battalion.
It was June 1917 before they eventually joined their unit in Belgium.
The Battle of Menin Road, part of the Battle of Passchendaele, was to be their first, last and only battle. All three brothers were killed within 24 hours of each other on 20 – 21 September 1917.
At the time of their deaths, George was aged 25, Theo was aged 24 and William was aged 21. Theo and George, whose bodies were never recovered, are commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres, while William is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery near Poperinge.
