Tony Blair today took a swipe at Joe Biden today as he said the US withdrawal from Afghanistan will embolden the West’s enemies and give them a ‘belief our time is over’. The former prime minister said, ‘it is clear now’ the US has decided that for the ‘foreseeable future’ it has a ‘very limited appetite for military engagement’. Mr Blair suggested Europe and NATO should therefore ‘develop the capability to act’ when the US is ‘unwilling’.
What is it with this former Prime Minister that he wants to cause war everywhere he goes? He is very blood thirsty but for the blood of others…not his nor his family.
Was the deaths of 198 British Servicemen and women, and the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis not enough for him? The unrest in Libya and the rise of ISIS because of having no withdrawal strategy. Are the deaths of the Yazidis not enough for him? The deaths of Westerners on video not enough for him? I remember they even beheaded Syrian Scholar Khaled al-Asaad and I found that the saddest of all. He refused to tell ISIS where the artifacts were, and went to his death protecting the history of man from butchers.
Islamic State militants beheaded a renowned antiquities scholar in the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra and hung his mutilated body on a column in a main square of the historic site because he apparently refused to reveal where valuable artefacts had been moved for safekeeping.
The brutal murder of Khaled al-Asaad, 82, is the latest atrocity perpetrated by the jihadi group, which has captured a third of Syria and neighbouring Iraq and declared a “caliphate” on the territory it controls. It has also highlighted Isis’s habit of looting and selling antiquities to fund its activities – as well as destroying them.
Syrian state antiquities chief Maamoun Abdulkarim said Asaad’s family had informed him that the scholar, who worked for more than 50 years as head of antiquities in Palmyra, was killed by Isis on Tuesday.
Asaad had been held for more than a month before being murdered. Chris Doyle, director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding, said he had learned from a Syrian source that the archaeologist had been interrogated by Isis about the location of treasures from Palmyra and had been executed when he refused to cooperate.
Are the deaths of these people not enough for Blair? He has come up with the bioweapon’s speech again, yet this is the man who lied to Parliament when he said that Saddam Hussein has WMD’s and the truth was that there were none. He stated that these WMDs could hit Cyprus in 45 minutes, and this is how he managed to Parliament to agree to going to war. Little did they know that he had promised George W Bush a year before that he would back him and he also knew that this claim was a lie. He and Alistair Campbell had “sexed” up the report and this lie led to so many deaths and yet he has not stood in any court to answer for his crimes.
He suggested the US and the West more widely now seems to be focused on ‘short term political imperatives’ which have ‘squeezed the space’ for ‘long term thinking’.
The apparent retreat from the world stage ‘gives our allies anxiety and our opponents a belief our time is over’. He also warned that Islamism remains a “first order” security threat and the West should prepare for potential use of biological weapons by extremist groups.
‘Islamism, both the ideology and the violence, is a first order security threat and, unchecked, it will come to us, even if centred far from us, as 9/11 demonstrated,’
‘COVID-19 has taught us about deadly pathogens. Bio-terror possibilities may seem like the realm of science fiction. But we would be wise now to prepare for their potential use by non-state actors.’. (Daily mail.co.uk)
He then goes further and suggests that because of the inability of America to stay the course that Europe and NATO, including us should pick up the mantle and no doubt fight again.
It is frightening that Blair is happy to send other peoples sons and daughters to fight a war that he wants to create, yet he will make sure that his children don’t go. I guess his attitude is that his “fortunate sons” are more worthy than others.
Blair and his drastic intervention in the Middle East were for nothing more than making money, as he wanted to hit the States big time and of course if he had declared a war with the Americans…he would be a hero to them, and the money would come rolling in. It seems that leaders in both the USA and Britain make millions and millions out of supporting things the rest of us feel nauseous with.
Blair and Bush are responsible for the state of the Middle East and he needs to butt out of the problem, as I am convinced that he would not be happy until the battlefield is littered with our dead and he can look like a conqueror. After all, when he was the Middle East Envoy (what a joke), he wrote Blair of Jerusalem in the visitors’ book. God what an ego…
Delivering a speech to the Royal United Services Institute military think tank to mark 20 years since the 9/11 terror attacks in the US, Mr Blair said Western society and its leaders ‘have become quite understandably, deeply averse to casualties’. He argued this is an ‘overwhelming political constraint to any commitment to Western boots on the ground, except for Special Forces’.
Mr Blair said this created an ‘obvious’ problem because ‘if the enemy we’re fighting knows that the more casualties they inflict, the more our political will to fight erodes, then the incentive structure is plain’.
He continued: ‘There is an additional challenge for Europe and NATO. It is clear now – if it wasn’t before – that America has decided that for the foreseeable future, it has a very limited appetite for military engagement.’ Mr Blair said Europe and NATO must now consider the question of how to respond to international crises if the US is ‘unwilling’ to do so.
A man who has caused death, destruction and the continued misery of others should have no credibility into the current situation, and why is he talking to a military think tank? He talks and others die. He tried to state after the WMD fiasco that it was a regime change. Both the British and UN charter does not allow for that in law and therefore he made us the aggressors, and by leaving the vacuum of power in Iraq and the botched withdrawal there….he and Bush created the rise of ISIS and for this he should answer to the courts and certainly not have any say in what way the Governments and NATO go next.
If he does….here’s an idea Mr Blair…pick up your gun and go fight the evil that is happening in the Middle East or pipe down as your interventions costs the lives of hundreds of thousands, and that is something we as a nation cannot afford, but he won’t. It is so typical of the snake in the grass politicians we have these days. They won’t fight but they send others to fight. They just cause the death, destruction and human rights violations but ask them to go and do their bit….you won’t see him or the others for dust.
