Tory MP and husband of Track and Tracing Czar Baroness Dido Harding has tried to defend his voting against helping parents with free meals by stating ‘Practical measures which make a genuine difference to the causes of poverty include things like the Pupil Premium, which gives schools extra funding for disadvantaged pupils; breakfast clubs, which help children with chaotic parents who send them to school without breakfast so they can’t concentrate properly‘.

Cllr Mike Bird, from Walsall, suggested that low-income parents struggling to feed their children should shop at Marks and Spencer as he took a swipe at Marcus Rashford's popular campaign to provide free school meals over the half-term and Christmas holidays

We also have another Tory councillor stating that parents can buy 3 meals for £7 from M&S….my god when did politicians become so uncaring?

Labour need to butt out as well as when they were in power more and more people were going hungry, and this is just political point scoring and causing mischief without any real ideas of how to make sure that children are fed.

I have said it twice now….the Government need to contact councils or chamber of commerce’s in the various areas and get a list of those companies who are producing free meals. Pay them to produce meals and make sure that those children who are at risk of going hungry get a meal. It will take some administrative skills but I am sure there are people who can do it, and get the names of the children, the areas they live in and even if necessary provide a meal on wheels as it keeps people employed as well. Win win…

What we don’t need are pretentious MPs who have never had a day’s struggle in their lives coming out with stupid comments. After all,

The people need to de-select John Penrose and if necessary get a caring person in and one whose family is not on the taxpayers pay roll as it seems he and his wife are.

We need MPs who understand the struggle as far too often once they get into power they start to figure out what they can get and it is all about me, me and me and they will line their own pockets before helping the voters. I can honestly say I am so disappointed in the Houses of Parliament as it is full of people who really are not the best of us.

Maybe it is time to demand a code of ethics for MPs or we are in danger of keep getting the same old same old in and who will get more and more out of touch.
