So if I don’t like Rule Britannia I don’t love this country? As it happens, I don’t have any particular feelings one way or another. But it’s come to something, hasn’t it, when if you don’t like a song you’re asked to leave?
Didn’t the service personnel who diesdin WW2 do so to protect democracy? Where’s the democracy here? Like this song or leave?
It’s not about an anthem it’s about pride in your country. I grew up with a hero who fought in WW2 and I am glad my father is no longer here to see the wishy washy I don’t care either way attitude. This is not what they fought for….
Loving your country, having pride in your country is not wishy washy but a real thing. Sit with a real hero and see what they have to say.
It is shameful that you are not bothered as pride in your country starts with how these anthems make you feel, and no leftist supporter will ever feel pride…
I feel sorry for them not being bothered as if you have no pride in your country, then you have no pride. You don’t know what that feels like to look at your flag and hear those anthems knowing that’s Britishness.
I mean can you can love this country without singing a song that references slavery and praises the british empire and colonialism that came with that .
I actually think playing the tune without the lyrics is a happy compromise.
It is not a happy comprise as I have been to the Last Night of the Proms and the lyrics get belted out by ALL the people, regardless of their colour. It is a beautiful sight, and funny how it has not bothered people for a hundred years..but get a virtual signalling fool to conduct the last night, then the offence surfaces.
People are now permanently offended just to be permanently offended. It has not been brought up before, and all these ridiculous comments supporting removal for nothing more than a fascist movement needs to stop.
