Like most families we have Sky, Netflix and Amazon….Mr Points of Sue went mad and decided to get the Disney channel for the grandchildren he says, but funny how it’s always on the superheroes…..and my grandchildren always on the laptops we bought them….

Anyhow I am a lover of the Black and White films. More often than not I listen to the tuts of my family as they see another golden oldie go on, but yesterday joy of joy I discovered YouTube on my TV. I am not the tecky person in our family, but once shown it opened up a whole world for me.

I watched The Canterville Ghost with Charles Laughton…a story by Oscar Wilde and I do love reading Oscar Wilde. Used to read his books to my sons when they were little….and then my viewing world opened up …Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes.

I have already watched The Ghost and Mrs Muir with George Sanders ( for you who are slightly younger, he is the voice of Shere Khan in Disney’s Jungle Book), and Rex Harrison.

I have found all the Errol Flynn films, more Charles Laughton, Robert Donat, Bette Davis, David Niven and the list just goes on and on.

It is heaven on earth for me as I really find these horror films, and bad language so often used in modern films as off putting…..but the joy in true acting in the black and white films, means my lazy weekends have just gotten lazier.

I love tecky progress.
