I am very proud of my family’s Jewish roots and will defend it with all my might and quite often do take down any anti-semetism but even I have to admit that the further annexing of the West Bank is wrong.

My father was with the British Army in 1946 in Palestine and he can remember the Jewish people demanding their own land, and surely it is the same with the Palestinians. After all that is all any of us want…a place to call ours.

Don’t get me wrong I am not pro-Palestine and certainly dislike the terrorist wing of Hamas, but people have the right to their own home land and for the Palestinians that is the West Bank, after all I want the Rohingya’s to have their own land….and so should the Palestinians. Why on earth Netanyahu has to bully and intimidate them is beyond me. It is shameful really…and no I am not a “woke” generation but rather a late middle aged woman who struggles to see why this has to happen.

Unsurprisingly, Benjamin Netanyahu has now made things starkly clear. On 28 May the Israeli prime minister explained that when – not if – his government goes ahead with unilateral annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, thousands of Palestinian residents would be granted neither citizenship nor equal rights. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/11/israels-annexation-of-the-west-bank-will-be-yet-another-tragedy-for-Palestinians

Now I cannot be called anti semetic as I married a Jewish man but even I who despise anti-semetism and those awful people who do it can see that the subjugation of one group of people will result in further bloodshed and further terrorist attacks. It will further destabilise the middle east and that is a powder keg already …..

Benjamin Netanyahu has never hid the fact he despises Palestinians and he is the wrong man in power in Israel as he constantly goads them to keep hold of his power base, when in reality it should be handed over to someone who wants peace in the middle east and not further bloodshed.

Iran we know are just chomping at the bit to start a war….that would leave the Saudis with a problem as they are no friends of Iran but they are Muslim, and the whole thing would set the world on fire and we are seeing that brought closer with China and their land grabs. I think 2020 really is the year we bring ourselves closer to destruction.

There is no solution to this problem whilst you still have a hawk in power….he knows it and the people of Palestine know it, and is it really fair to demolish a house for something a family member does? It hands all the power to the Israeli Prime Minister and that is a fight that the other side cannot win.

More than 1,000 European parliamentarians denounced Israel’s plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank and Jordan Valley saying the move would be “fatal to the prospects of Israeli-Palestinian peace”.  The MPs representing 25 European countries urged leaders to prevent the annexation process and save the prospects of a two-state solution.

“Acquisition of territory by force has no place in 2020 and must have commensurate consequences,” the letter published on Tuesday said, urging European leaders “to act decisively in response to this challenge”.  The condemnation comes ahead of an important UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday focusing on the annexation move – the last international gathering to address the situation before it is expected to take place.

Beginning as soon as July 1, the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said it will annex illegally built Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, moves detailed in a so-called “Middle East plan” proposed by US President Donald Trump in January. “We, parliamentarians across Europe committed to a rules-based global order, share serious concerns about President Trump’s plan for Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the imminent prospect of Israeli annexation of West Bank territory,” the letter said. “We are deeply worried about the precedent it would set for international relations at large.” https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/06/european-mps-condemn-israel-annexation-move-200624070805730.html

Netanyahu has become bold under Donald Trump but he could opening Pandora’s box as it is not a given thing that Trump could win the election, (god knows what waiting is far worse in Biden), but then what would Netanyahu do when the help is withdrawn as it will be…..we could all be dragged into a war that could so easily be averted.

Peace has never really rested well on the shoulders of Netanyahu as he lost his brother rescuing hostages in Operation Entebbe…his brother was Yonatan ‘Yoni’ Netanyahu, and I think since that day he has hardened his heart to ever giving way, that and fighting in the 6 day War I think showed him what Israel can do…but is he so willing to risk it all?

My view is that it is better to live peacefully with your neighbours and to help each other rather than trying to kill each other, but somehow I think that sort of thinking doesn’t enter into either his head or that of Hamas.

They must also take responsibility for the mess that is occurring and sadly it will only get worse if this course of action is insisted upon. Somebody has to say stop one day or it will end up with more and more terror attacks and is that fair on both sides? Somehow though with him in power…that day is a long time off.
