What is patriotism really though. In todays world. Its paramount to thinking you are better than other countries which is Racism. I have to disagree with you Sue most people who are very patriotic are also racist. Also, many people in the armee forces seem to be racist (this is from my experience feel free to disagree)
Why is patriotism racism? I do not compare this country with others? We are different, we are unique, we have our cultures and they have ours and most people who I know love their flag and do you include the people of colour who are patriotic? Are they racist? I have a friend who lives here now having arrived from Nigeria and she loves this country and the flag and she is more patriotic than me….is she racist? As for the Armed Forces you have it totally wrong….we are not racist and I should know I am ex Army ….I love my country and wanted to protect it from threat. I wanted to protect it from the bad guys, so that men, women and children go to sleep at night knowing that there are people like me out there. I certainly didn’t put crosses on the door of those who were not white like me! Defending this country meant defending everyone and if that makes me racist….so be it.
