Standing as a Tory Councillor

I have been asked again to stand as a councillor in my home town, but again I have turned this down.

My health is a huge deciding factor due to being disabled, but I also think that politics and political activism has gotten so nasty and personal that it does not look nor feel an honourable profession anymore.

MPs go round and speak to the people and promise the world, respect democracy etc and who as soon as he/she are bestowed with the position turn on the electorate and do what they want, rather than what they were voted in to do.

I could not tow the party line as my first allegiance would be to the voters and I guess wanting to follow their orders, and their decisions would make me unsuitable for the current trough that so many MPs have their snouts in.
